As you age, the skin on your upper eyelids can gradually lose elasticity, leading to a heavy or drooping appearance around the eyes. For some individuals, this excess skin can make the eyes look tired or interfere with vision. At Align Aesthetics, we offer upper blepharoplasty. This surgical procedure removes excess upper eyelid skin and, when appropriate, addresses underlying fat to restore a more refreshed appearance. At Align Aesthetics, upper blepharoplasty is carefully planned and personalized to each patient’s anatomy, goals, and overall facial balance.
What Is Upper Blepharoplasty?
Upper blepharoplasty is an eyelid procedure that focuses on the upper eyelids. It removes excess skin and, when appropriate, small amounts of underlying fat to improve eyelid contour and function. In addition to cosmetic concerns, upper blepharoplasty can also address functional issues when sagging skin interferes with vision. All upper eyelid procedures at Align Aesthetics are cosmetic and are performed by Dr. Lamise Rajjoub.
Benefits of Upper Blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty offers both aesthetic and functional benefits, including:
- A more rested and alert appearance
- Improved upper eyelid contours
- Reduction of excess or drooping eyelid skin
- Enhanced peripheral vision when excess skin obstructs sight
- Natural-looking results that complement the rest of the face
Because every procedure is customized, results are designed to look balanced and appropriate for each patient.
Candidates for Upper Blepharoplasty
You may be a good candidate for upper blepharoplasty if you have excess skin on your upper eyelids, experience heaviness around the eyes, or notice that drooping eyelids affect your appearance. Good overall health and realistic expectations are also important. During a consultation, Dr. Rajjoub will evaluate your eyelids, discuss your goals, and determine whether upper blepharoplasty is appropriate for you. All pre- and post-treatment instructions are thoroughly reviewed during this visit to ensure you feel informed and prepared.
The Upper Blepharoplasty Treatment
Upper blepharoplasty surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure in our in-office surgical suite. Upper blepharoplasty surgery typically takes 30-45 minutes. Before surgery begins, the eyelid area is numbed, and medication may be provided to help you relax. A small incision is made along the natural crease of the upper eyelid, allowing excess skin and tissue to be carefully removed. This incision placement helps conceal scarring once healing is complete. The incision is then closed with fine sutures, and patients are monitored briefly before being discharged the same day.

MEET THE TEAMRecovery and Results
After upper blepharoplasty, mild swelling and bruising are common and gradually improve over the first one to two weeks. Most patients can return to light activities within several days, following the specific aftercare instructions provided by our team. As healing progresses, the upper eyelids appear smoother and more defined. Final results continue to refine over the following weeks as swelling fully resolves. Patients are advised to protect the eyelid area from sun exposure and attend follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing.
