The outer corner of the eye plays an important role in overall eye shape and in supporting the lower eyelids. Over time, changes in tissue structure or natural anatomy can affect the position and firmness of this area. Canthoplasty is a specialized eyelid procedure designed to refine and reinforce the outer corner of the eye, helping improve contours and structural stability. At Align Aesthetics, canthoplasty is customized to support both aesthetic balance and eyelid function.
What Is Canthoplasty?
Canthoplasty is a surgical procedure that focuses on the lateral canthus, the outer corner where the upper and lower eyelids meet. The procedure reshapes or tightens this area to enhance eyelid support and improve overall eye contours. All eyelid procedures at Align Aesthetics, including canthoplasty, are performed by Dr. Lamise Rajjoub, a dedicated eyelid specialist with advanced expertise in the delicate anatomy of the eye area.
Benefits of Canthoplasty
Canthoplasty may offer several benefits, including:
- Improved support of the lower eyelid
- Refinement of eye shape and contour
- Enhanced symmetry between the eyes
- A more lifted or defined outer eye appearance
- Long-lasting structural improvement
Each procedure is individualized to ensure results remain natural and proportionate to the rest of the face.
Candidates for Canthoplasty
Canthoplasty may be appropriate for individuals with lower eyelid laxity, asymmetry at the outer corner of the eye, or concerns about eye contours. It may also be recommended alongside other eyelid procedures when additional structural support is needed. During your consultation, Dr. Rajjoub will evaluate your eyelid position, tone, and overall facial balance to determine whether canthoplasty is right for you. All pre- and post-procedure instructions are reviewed thoroughly during this visit to ensure you understand the surgical plan and recovery process.
The Canthoplasty Treatment
Canthoplasty is performed in Align Aesthetics’ in-office surgical suite. After ensuring comfort with local anesthesia and supportive medication, a small incision is made at the outer corner of the eye. The underlying tissue is carefully adjusted to tighten and reposition the lateral canthus. Once the desired contour and support are achieved, the incision is closed with fine sutures. Patients are monitored briefly before returning home the same day.

MEET THE TEAMRecovery and Results
Temporary swelling, mild bruising, and tightness at the outer corner of the eye are common in the first one to two weeks. Most patients gradually resume normal daily activities while following the post-operative instructions provided. As healing progresses, the outer eye contour appears more refined and supported. Final results continue to develop over several weeks as swelling resolves. Follow-up appointments allow the surgical team to monitor healing and ensure proper recovery.
